IT Support & Monitoring Engineer

The IT Support & Monitoring engineer is responsible for monitoring the correct functioning of our IT infrastructure, report on the status and escalate issues to the IT Infrastructure team. In addition, he or she receives inbound support calls from other departments and individuals and works with other teams in the IT department to resolve these calls.

The typical engineer has a bachelor degree in an IT related field, has a service mind and has basic problem solving skills. In addition, he or she is knowledgeable of Windows XP and can resolve the most common user related problems him/herself.

This position would be in a 24x7 team, so interested candidates should be able and willing to work weekend/night shifts.

Other job titles used to refer to this kind of work include: network support; system administrator; network administrator; and systems support.

Job Description

  • Monitoring network and server status
  • Receiving requests and support calls from other departments and individuals within the organization
  • Escalating support calls
  • Basic trouble shooting for Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server
  • installing, supporting and maintaining new hardware and software
  • analyzing and resolving faults, whether it is a major system crash or a forgotten password;
  • undertaking routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security,
  • working closely with other departments/organizations and collaborating with other IT staff;

Qualification

  • A degree in computer science and fresh graduate is welcomed, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • Service oriented and the ability to juggle many tasks and requests in a fast moving environment.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows XP, Microsoft Office (including Outlook) and workstation related support calls.
  • Problem solving skills. Basic knowledge of system administration for Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2007, IIS 6.0.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft development and applications (vb.net, c#, Visual Studio) is a strong bonus.
  • Ability to communicate in English both in oral and written
  • Must be flexible and be able to work AM and PM shifts on rotation and on weekends
