IT Architect/Solutions Architect - Business Analytics and Optimization (BAO)

(Kuala Lumpur, Selangor)

The Solution Architect is responsible for gathering, understanding and translating the client's Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing requirements into IT solutions. Working closely with the project manager and the delivery teams, the architect is responsible for the solution through all stages of the project lifecycle: from the gathering of the requirements, the definition of the architecture through to testing and production implementation.

The Solution Architect is expected to be familiar with:

• Logical & physical data model design for enterprise data warehouse, preferably in a Financial Services / Telco industry / environment
• 3rd normalized data model structure
• Data sourcing, transformation, load concepts and designs
• Data mart model designs (both star-schema and other denormalized models)
• Business intelligence analytic tools and functionalities, including OLAP databases
• Sizing for the various hardware and software components to support the Business Intelligence and/or Data Warehouse solution

Other core responsibilities include:

• Communication with client personnel and executives
• Providing technical leadership during the planning phase: effort estimation, technology selection, methodology and template selection/customisation, definition of appropriate project development approach. Note these planning activities can be carried out either during the sales/solutioning phase or during the project startup phase.
• Providing technical guidance to the delivery team: making architecture and design decisions, providing assistance to and mentoring other team members, performing quality reviews on deliverables
• Management: experience of scope and risk management, ability to define and present options to resolve project issues and risk mitigations.

The position requires knowledge of multiple platforms, architecture and design patterns, as well as broad knowledge of new technologies. The ability and willingness to quickly learn new tools and technology is essential.

Required Experience:

• 5-8 years of solution architecting in an enterprise level BI / DW environment
• Min 5 years of Data Architecture in Data Warehouse environment, preferably in a Banking / Telco environment
• Experience in managing Teradata
• Experience architecting logical and physical data models
• Experience in BI tools / OLAP databases
• Experience in ETL / ELT tools
• Experience in Data Quality Management
• Experience in Master Data Management

Required Skills:

• Solution and IT Architecture in a BI / DW environment
• ETL or ELT tools (e.g. DataStage, Informatica, etc.)
• Logical and Physical Data Warehouse data model design and support
• BI Tools (e.g. Cognos, Hyperion, Business Objects, etc.)
• Data Integration concepts and design
