Standard Bid Manager

Responsibilities:

• Engaged on simple and low-moderate risk opportunities, generally single brand (BTT 1-3)
• Develop the overall project plan for opportunities and have all the responsibilities of project management when a separate project manager is not assigned
• Requires continuous leadership and involvement during the solution design and proposal delivery process
• Involved in the overall solution design process, but not involved in architecting the technical solution
• Responsible to drive the development of a solution, proposal, and associated deliverables that satisfy the customer’s business and technical requirements and meet IBM objectives as communicated through the Opportunity Owner (OO)
• Works as a trusted peer with the OO to execute the Win Strategy provided by the OO
• Provide operational leadership for the solution design and proposal development support team to meet client deadlines with high quality deliverables
• Ensure Auditability is maintained: Ensure compliance with all relevant aspects of Solution Design and Delivery process, business control, reviews and approval requirements
• Maintain a control file of customer correspondence and proposal related documents
• Provide the initial escalation point for team issues (in collaboration with OO)
• Identify resources, coordinate participation of SME business Resources and with the Technical Resource Coordinator, coordinate the participation of aligned function and brand support technical resources
• Engage the cross-brand board when appropriate in collaboration with the OO
• Coordinate activities of other Deal Hub Members
• Contribute to overall achievement of Deal Hub Metrics

Requirements:

• Reasonable understanding of IBM organizations and processes to know how to get problems and issues resolved for the proposal and solutions managed
• Able to understand client business and industry requirements and IT implications and issues relative to supported proposals
• Able to motivate and lead a small team towards a common objective on an aggressive schedule
• Sales and communications skills - develop relationship with key decision-makers
• Excellent business acumen
• Knowledge of how to develop a win/solution strategy
• Articulate technical solution
• Possess Negotiation skills
• Preferrably with some project management experience, and some business and industry knowledge and experience
• Good business judgment
• Some knowledge and experience in hardware, software, and services
• With some solution and proposal development experience
• Familiar with the role, responsibilities, and processes of functional support team members
• Understands SSM and CRM OM and SDD processes
• Professional knowledge related to aspects of Deal Hub processes
• Ability to collaborate with others to carry out assigned responsibilities
• Recognizes issues and concerns and prepares/recommends solutions for determination by those responsible
